The suggested to the readers book is, without any doubts, an important documentary source in Ukrainian history in the period of the liberation wars in the Xvii century. Guillaume Le Vasseur de Beauplan was invited by the Polish king Sigismund Iii at the beginning of the 30-s of this century on service to the Rzecz Pospolita as the chief captain of the artillery and as the military engineer. Having found himself in such a way after a few years in the very epicenter of the war of the rebellious Cossacks against the Polish crown troops, he had the full possibility not only observe the military actions, but also make different as it is fashionable to name it now, «geopolitical conclusions». We think that to read this book will be interesting for our readers. The history has to teach us something, has not it?
