برتراند راسل (1872-1970) هو فيلسوف بريطاني مشهور يُعتبر من أبرز المفكرين في القرن العشرين، حيث حاز على جائزة نوبل. يُعدّ راسل أحد مؤسسي الفلسفة التحليلية، وقد ترك بصمة واضحة في مجالات الميتافيزيقا والمنطق وفلسفة الرياضيات والأخلاق. وُلِد في ويلز لعائلة أرستقراطية، وتلقى تعليمه في جامعة كامبريدج، حيث بدأ رحلته الفكرية بنشر أعماله في السياسة والديمقراطية. حياته كانت مليئة بالنشاط السياسي، حيث عُرف بنشاطه في قضايا السلام وحقوق الإنسان. كتب راسل أكثر من سبعين كتابًا، منها "مبادئ الرياضيات" و"تحليل العقل"، وترك إرثًا فكريًا عميقًا أثر في مجالات متعددة مثل اللغويات والذكاء الاصطناعي. توفي راسل بالإنفلونزا في عام 1970 في منزله في ويلز، تاركًا خلفه إرثًا فلسفيًا عظيمًا.
