فرانسوا فنلون هو رئيس أساقفة وشاعر فرنسي من القرن السابع عشر، اشتهر بأفكاره الإصلاحية الدينية والروحية. وُلد في 6 أغسطس 1651 في بيريجور بفرنسا لأسرة نبيلة. تلقى تعليمه المبكر على أيدي معلمين خصوصيين، ثم واصل دراسته في الفلسفة والخطابة في جامعة كاهور. بعد أن رُسّم كاهنًا، تسلم مناصب هامة في الكنيسة، بما في ذلك منصب أسقف كامبريه في عام 1695. كان فنلون من دعاة الإصلاح الروحي الداخلي وشارك في النقاشات السياسية والدينية. ألف العديد من الكتب المؤثرة، أبرزها كتاب "فنون تليمَاك" الذي صدر عام 1699، ويعتبر نقدًا غير مباشر لحكم لويس الرابع عشر. توفي فنلون في 7 يناير 1715 عن عمر ناهز الثالثة والستين.
